AUSA Hosts Sustainability Hot Topic June 3

The Association of the U.S. Army will host a symposium about readiness and sustainability of the force on June 3. Titled “Strategic Sustainment for a Globally Responsive and Regionally Engaged Army,” the one-day event at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., will look at how logisticians have performed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and how to maintain material readiness in the future. The day-long event is expected to include remarks by Lt. Gen. Larry Wyche, Army Materiel Command chief of staff, and Lt. Gen. Gustave F. Perna, the Army deputy chief of staff for logistics. Panel discussions are scheduled about developing innovative leaders in the logistics field, what changes might be needed in sustainment in the future, and ways to improve readiness. The symposium is the first of four AUSA Hot Topic events planned this year. A discussion of networking is planned for July 16. Army medical care is the topic for Sept. 22, and Army cyber programs will be discussed Nov. 20.All the events are similarly organized, with expert speakers drawn from the Army and industry for speeches and panel discussions. To register for the Hot Topic event on sustainability, visit: http://www.ausa.org/ausameetings/ht/sustainment/Pages/default.aspx.To see the schedule of events for the year, visit: http://www.ausa.org/ausameetings/Pages/default.aspx.
