AUSA Hosts 2nd Annual ‘Powerful Prose’ Workshop
Registration is open for the second annual writing workshop hosted by the Association of the U.S. Army.
“AUSA Writing & Editing Workshop: Powerful Prose” will take place on Jan. 20–21 at AUSA headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. With the support of Army University Press and the Harding Project, this two-day, in-person event is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to contribute to the revitalization and renewal of writing and scholarship across the Army.
Participants will have ample opportunity to network, hear the latest on writing in the Army, engage with doctrine and storytelling experts and learn from successful podcasters.
The workshop also will feature a look at the incorporation of artificial intelligence into the creative process and a deep dive into writing and editing with a team of experts.

The workshop begins with an AUSA Coffee Series featuring Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George on Jan. 20. Participants must register separately for the Coffee Series here.
After George’s presentation, the workshop will begin with a keynote from Lt. Gen. James Isenhower, commanding general of U.S. Army Combined Arms Command at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
There will be an update from the team behind the Harding Project, an initiative launched by George to invigorate professional writing across the force, followed by panelists on components of a story and AI integration in writing and image generation.
The second day of the workshop includes panels on structuring a commentary, working with authors as an editor and podcasting and Army communications. There also will be a spotlight on Harding Papers featuring several Army authors, moderated by retired Lt. Gen. James Dubik, an AUSA senior fellow and namesake of the LTG (Ret) James M. Dubik Writing Fellows Program, a nonresident writing fellowship that aims to encourage professional writing across the Army.
