AUSA Announces Best Chapter Winners

Best chapter winners on a stage

The Association of the U.S. Army has announced its six Best Chapter winners for 2025 based on their achievement and success in growing membership, hosting events, raising money for scholarships and other programs, and supporting units and recruiters.

The awards will be presented in October during AUSA’s Annual Meeting and Exposition at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

“As the Army continues to focus on its warfighting mission while continuing to transform, delivering combat ready formations and focusing on the profession of being a soldier, AUSA chapters are stepping up to support all three components, their families, veterans and their communities,” said retired Command Sgt. Maj. Troy Welch, the association’s Membership director. “These selfless volunteers are the lifeblood of AUSA, and I am impressed and inspired by what they have been able to accomplish over the past year to advance our mission.”

The awards are calculated in six groups, with five based on chapter size and one for the best overseas chapter.

  • The George Washington chapter in the national capital region is Best Chapter among groups with more than 1,600 members.
  • The Suncoast Chapter in Tampa, Florida, is Best Chapter among groups with 600 to 1,599 members.
  • The Texas Capital Area Chapter in Austin, Texas, is Best Chapter among groups with 375 to 599 members.
  • The Central Virginia Chapter in Richmond, Virginia, is Best Chapter among groups with 225 to 374 members.
  • The Las Vegas-John C. Fremont in Las Vegas is Best Chapter among groups with membership of less than 224.
  • The Best Overseas Chapter is the GEN Creighton W. Abrams in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The rankings result from a review of activities reports from 122 chapters, looking at achievements including membership growth across all categories, meetings and events, scholarship programs, support for local military units and recruiters, and engaging local politicians about AUSA priorities.

The overall level of achievement was high, as 118 chapters increased in individual membership and 66 chapters increased in community partnerships in the operating year, 57 had events for ROTC, 57 held events for Army families, 63 supported recruiters, 64 sponsored professional development programs, 28 had events to honor Vietnam veterans, 29 hosted young professional events, 70 hosted Army Birthday events and 77 supported their community through local events.

“Our chapter leaders and members represent the very foundation of our association. Each day, they make meaningful contributions to the lives of soldiers and their families,” said Angelina Phan, AUSA's deputy director of Membership. “We’re so proud to celebrate their dedication and the incredible ways they give back to those who serve our country.”
