The race, which begins and ends at the Pentagon, will be held Oct. 7, the day before the start of the Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition, which is held in Washington, D.C. AUSA is one of the founding and continuing sponsors of the Army Ten-Miler.

Priority registration for the race began May 9, filling 13,000 of the available 35,000 spots for runners. The remaining space will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Army Ten-Miler, first held in 1985, is conducted in waves, with the first runners beginning just before 8 a.m. The top finisher in 2017, Spc. Haron Lagat, finished in 49 minutes, 23 seconds. Because of heat and humidity, the 2017 race was shortened after the first competitors finished.
