The Book Program is part of the Education department of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). AUSA is a nonprofit educational and professional development association serving America’s Army and supporters of a strong national defense. AUSA provides a voice for the Army, supports the Soldier, and honors those who have served in order to advance the security of the nation.
The Book Program contributes to the educational mission of the organization by promoting contemporary military publishing. The goal is to foster an awareness of, and appreciation for, the U.S. Army and its Soldiers.
The Book Program Intern is an entry-level role that will be key to the growth of the program. Supporting the Book Program Director, the Book Program Intern will help increase the number and quality of the program’s publications and events, as well as the scope of its outreach. The intern plays an important role within the Education Team and sets a high standard of collaboration and engagement that is expected by the Education Vice President, the National Staff, and AUSA membership.
The Education Team is seeking a results-focused individual who can work both independently and collaboratively, can understand concepts quickly, and is intellectually curious.
The successful candidate will need to build strong relationships with key members of the Education team and with external publishing professionals, authors, researchers, and artists. The position requires strong communication skills, strong research skills, and the ability to deal with unexpected challenges.
The successful candidate will have completed their service’s transition assistance program, including the Department of Labor workshop.
