It is "Anchors Away" April, so join us this month as AUSA sets sail to explore how the U.S. Navy Tenth Fleet changed their seafaring direction from anti-submarines to anti-cyber threats and eventually made port in Augusta, Georgia. Navy Captain Dominic Lovello, Commanding Officer of the Navy Information Operations Command - Georgia and Combined Task Force 1050 will be our Guest Speaker.

Captain Dom Lovello enlisted in the Navy in April 1984 and reported to Recruit Training Center Orlando, Florida for basic training. After Cryptologic Technician training, he completed tours in Norfolk, Virginia aboard USS BIDDLE (CG-34), in Japan with FLEET AIR RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRONS and in Hawaii as a direct support operator and analyst. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 1995 and commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer Ensign in 1997.

Captain Lovello reported to USS CHANCELLORSVILLE where he served as the Electronic Warfare Officer during deployments across the western Pacific and Arabian Gulf. He was then assigned to Misawa, Japan where he served as a Special Evaluator and NATOPS Instructor at the Navy Information Operations Command. In May of 2002, he assumed duties as the Officer in Charge of Navy Information Operations Detachment Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he completed deployments in support of OPERATIONS ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM. He then attended the Naval War College and completed his joint tour at Headquarters, U.S. Central Command Tampa, Florida.

Upon completing this assignment, he reported to the staff of EXPEDITIONARY STRIKE GROUP SEVEN in Okinawa where he served as a staff officer and senior watch officer. From there, he transferred to the state of Washington, where he took command of the Navy Information Operations Command at Whidbey Island and then completed an assignment as a Combat Mission Team Leader at the Navy Information Operations Command at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He arrived in Naples, Italy in July 2018 where he served as the Director for Information Operations for Naval Forces Europe, Africa, and U.S. SIXTH Fleet.
