Mount Vernon will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on National Purple Heart Day. Your ticket will include access to the historic area, George Washington's Distillery & Gristmill, and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum & Education Center. It will also include a Mansion tour at the time specified on the ticket.

It is recommended that you plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your Mansion tour time. You will be prompted to choose your Mansion tour time when you reserve your ticket.

Purple Heart Day Ceremony: 

Join the audience for Mount Vernon's official National Purple Heart Day Ceremony on the East Lawn at 10:30 a.m., featuring remarks by General Washington and Medal of Honor recipient Captain Florent Groberg of the United States Army. 

Sunday, August 6th, 2017:

Private Evening Tour: event limited to 50 individuals "First RSVP" basis

On Sunday, AUG 6th Mount Vernon is pleased to welcome Purple Heart Recipients & their families to a special Private Evening Tour of the Mansion with Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Washington Tomb at 6 pm. 

Mansion tour includes the first, second and third floors of George Washington's beloved home. Guided tour will take approximately 1 hour. Please note the 1st floor of the Mansion is accessible by most wheel chairs. The 2nd & 3rd by stairs. 

ALL guests must RSVP to attend, and attendance is on a first come, first served basis until the event reaches capacity. Contact Mount Vernon's Office of Events & Protocol at events@mountvernon.org to RSVP.

Purple Heart Day Reception:

For the Departments within Region I that are assisting with donations for the Reception, please mail your checks payable to: "Chapter 353, MOPH" to William Lee, 22942 Fleet Terrace, Sterling, VA  20166.

On Monday, August 7, 2017 (National Purple Heart Day), Mount Vernon is pleased to invite Purple Heart recipients and their families to a reception at the Mount Vernon Inn restaurant at 1 p.m.

All guests must RSVP in order to attend, and attendance is on a first come, first served basis until the event reaches capacity.
