Scope

The theme for this professional development forum is: “Smart Contracting Reform Enables Army Readiness”.  Over the past three years Congress, through National Defense Authorization Acts, has directed acquisition reform.  The Secretary of the Army has responded with several initiatives.  Acquisition reform efforts are being implemented to streamline procurements and provide rapid delivery of supplies and services to our warfighters.  Concurrently, acquisition reform strives to ensure the Army remains competitive through innovative technologies, modernization, and cyber security management to ensure superiority on the battlefield and beyond while enabling Army readiness.

Objective

This symposium will provide an opportunity for senior leaders from industry and the military to interact and share their thoughts and perspectives on current acquisition reform efforts targeted to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of supporting the Warfighter.  Subject matter experts will discuss challenges impacting the Army’s acquisition processes and provide insight and analysis on contracting enablers impacted by reform efforts, including commercial contracting, rapid prototyping, and service acquisition.  Attendees will gain an understanding and appreciation for the monumental efforts taking place to reengineer and improve Army contracting business processes that will better enable Army readiness.  Military, government and industry professionals involved in all aspects of the Army acquisition community are expected to attend.
