Sponsorship of Lexington VA Family Association Events

Our chapter sponsored two summer events conducted by the Employee Association of the Lexington VA Health Care System. The first was a hamburger cookout in July. In August, they held an ice cream social. We were recognized as a sponsor on the menu for the events. In October, 2021, we made a donation for an employee pumpkin decorating contest and to hand out Halloween candy to employees.

 

Chapter Celebrates Army Birthday

The CPL Bill McMillan - Bluegrass Chapter of AUSA celebrated the 246th birthday of the US Army on 14 June 2021 with a cake at the Lexington, KY East Recruiting Station. Attending were Station Commander SFC James Baker and recruiters SSG Luciarae Fripp, SSG Todd Smith, SSG Antwan Williams, SSG Joshua Oille, SSG Andrew Hoobler, SSG Michael Kersey, SSG Anthony Simpson and SSG Jartvious Martin. Also present was future soldier Jeffery Labarbara who is to report for initial training this week. Presenting the cake and providing an overview of AUSA was Chapter Membership Director Frank Cannavo.

Lexington VA Easter Egg Hunt

The chapter furnished eggs and candy for an Easter egg hunt for the children of the employees of the Lexington VA. It was organized by the VA Employee Association. The chapter received recognition as a sponsor of the event.

In spite of the pandemic restrictions, your CPL Bill McMillan – Bluegrass Chapter of AUSA has continued to provide support to area veterans and Army active duty and reserve organizations. A description of our activities is shown below.

In cooperation with the Bluegrass Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, we contributed to the presentation of second lieutenant bars to newly commissioned ROTC graduates at the University of Kentucky, Eastern State University and Morehead State University.

School Archery Competition Supported by Army Recruiter and AUSA Chapter (Click Here to View Full Article)

In fact, the national sport organization is thought to have begun in Kentucky in the 1990’s. Every year high school students receive college scholarships to compete on intercollegiate archery teams.

The CPL Bill McMillan - Bluegrass Chapter is a sponsor of the 2019 Lexington VA 5K.  

The fourth annual Veterans VA5K will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019, on the beautiful grounds of the  Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The event will benefit the medical center and the Lexington Fisher House, which provides lodging for the families of veterans being treated at the medical center. The Lexington Division of Community Corrections and Columbia Gas of Kentucky and its NiVets employee resource group are presenting and coordinating sponsors of the event.

Our objective is to bring the Military Intrepid Spirit Process (ISP) to Lexington for our Guard, Reserve, Veteran, and larger civilian population while combining research and longitudinal study to improve patient TBI Diagnosis, Treatment, and the ISP.
