The Central Texas Chapter of AUSA continues to participate in events that highlight the spirit of service and partnership across our Army family and local community.

Spreading the Army Story: Impactful Partnerships

Our chapter’s President, Chris Albus, joined Col Brunson and CSM Augillen of the 13th ESC to inspire and welcome seven new soldiers into the AUSA family. At another event, the Garrison Commander, CSM, and volunteers energized our storytelling, resulting in an impressive 35 new members—including two Lifetime members—demonstrating the chapter’s growing influence and reach.

President Albus’s attendance at the Change of Command for Veterinary Readiness Activity reaffirms our deep commitment to supporting all segments of our Army community.

Honoring Fort Hood’s Finest

A recent highlight was the celebration of Fort Hood’s III Corps NCO and Soldier of the Year at our valued Community Partner, Killeen Auto Groups. At this special event, these outstanding soldiers were recognized and rewarded with a one-year loaner vehicle for personal use, generously provided by AUSA’s partners. This gift clearly sets the standard for how we show appreciation, serving as a powerful moment where civilian and military worlds intersect. It is a demonstration of strength, pride, and the unity that defines us as Americans.

Building Local Connections

Excom member Linda Angel delivered packets to the Belton and Temple Chambers of Commerce, further strengthening community ties and ensuring the Army’s story is shared with pride throughout Central Texas.

Skill-Building and Soldier Empowerment

Our chapter partnered with Fort Hood MWR and BOSS for “Life Skills Training” events, such as the hands-on “How to Change Your Oil” workshop at Sprocket Auto Crafts. Retired SMA Daniel Dailey led this valuable session, which was also boosted online by influencer SFC Johnny Vargas and attended by chapter leaders. These practical workshops brought 15 new members into AUSA and empowered our soldiers with essential skills.

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events

  • Community Partners Social: Hosted by RedBox+ and the Temple Area at the end of August, uniting local businesses, soldiers, and supporters for networking and celebration.
  • Young Professionals September Social Kickoff: September 16, connecting rising Army leaders.
  • 5th Annual Central Texas Indoor Car Show: September 27 at the Killeen Special Event Center—benefiting local Toy Drive and Soldier Support initiatives.

The Heart of AUSA Central Texas

August’s events exemplify the strength found in joint service, local partnership, and honoring our soldiers. Whether rewarding III Corps’ finest, fostering new membership, or empowering with life skills, the Central Texas Chapter stands as a beacon of unity, pride, and service. Every member and partner makes a difference—thank you for driving the mission and helping tell the Army’s story with passion and pride.
