Dear AUSA,
My name is Woojoo Han, and I am a G9 student at Branksome Hall Asia in Korea.
I have always been very interested in Korean history & heritage, and I enjoy studying it both in school and through extracurricular projects.
Since 8th grade, I have continuously researched the friendship between the United States and Korea as an extracurricular topic. Also, during a recent I&S class, I researched the Korean War and learned that 22 UN countries participated. The United States sent about 1,789,000 soldiers, and 36,940 were killed. I am deeply grateful to the American troops who fought to protect Korea’s freedom.
While participating in a writing competition hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, I learned about Colonel Ralph Puckett Jr, a Medal of Honor recipient. His story was very inspiring to me, and I wrote a letter to him for the contest. I was honored to receive an Excellence Award on November 22. I was thrilled but also sad to learn that Colonel Ralph Puckett Jr. passed away in 2024.
I would like to express my gratitude to Ralph's friends there with a small gift. My mom runs an Amazon business in USA and has some stock of socks. With her permission, I would like to donate about 14,800 pairs of socks ( 5 socks per pack) as a Holiday gift. I will work part-time at her company for 10 months to repay the cost:)
I hope these socks can become a warm holiday gift for veterans in the Seattle area, and I believe that Col. R. Puckett Jr. would gladly understand and agree as well.
Sincerely,
Woojoo Han
