We mourn the loss of SFC Ron Taylor, Fourth Region president
The Association of the U.S. Army mourns the death of retired Army Sergeant 1st Class Ron Taylor, president of the Association’s Fourth Region covering Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.A senior vice president with Fort Hood National Bank, Taylor was active with AUSA for 17 years.He was a member of the AUSA Council of Trustees, and previously served as the Texas state president and the Fort Hood-Central Texas chapter president."The loss of Ron Taylor has saddened all of us in the AUSA family," said Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, USA, Ret., AUSA’s president and CEO.Adding, "He was among the finest leaders in our Army and in AUSA. At the both the chapter and region levels, Ron Taylor was a tireless and effective advocate for America’s soldiers and their families. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those he touched during his remarkable career."Taylor’s Army career included duties as a cavalry scout, administrative specialist, recruiter and instructor, and he held several leadership positions. He was the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Office of the Secretary, Combined Joint Staff Headquarters, United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea and Eighth United States Army; the secretary of the General Staff, Fort Knox, Ky.; and the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-5, III Corps and Fort Hood.His last job before retiring was deputy chief of the Fort Hood Consumer Affairs Office.His bank office included hundreds of challenge coins he had collected over his long Army career.In 2012, Taylor received AUSA’s top award for a retired noncommissioned officer, the Sergeant Major of the Army William G. Bainbridge Medal. As he accepted it, he humbly said, "I really do love taking care of soldiers."Stan Lennox III, a longtime AUSA supporter, succeeds Taylor as the Fourth Region president.
