The 2012 recipient of the Sergeant Major of the Army William G. Bainbridge Medal for Exceptional Service to the Noncommissioned Officer Corps is Sgt. 1st Class Ron Taylor, USA, Ret.Ron, from Thomasville, Ga., retired from active duty with over two decades of selfless service to America’s Army.During his distinguished military career, he held positions of increasing responsibility culminating with his last assignment as the deputy chief of the Fort Hood Consumer Affairs Office.Ron currently serves as the senior vice president of the Fort Hood National Bank.This award is named in honor of Bainbridge, the fifth sergeant major of the Army who was a true Soldier-Warrior serving his country and his Army with distinction in and out of uniform for over 65 years.The Bainbridge Medal is awarded annually to a noncommissioned officer active, reserve component or retired, contributing most to the United States Army Noncommissioned Officer Corps.SMA Bainbridge’s lifelong dedication to America’s Army and the Noncommissioned Officer corps marked him as a true American patriot.Ron’s commitment to soldiers and their families did not end when he took off his uniform for the last time.Since his retirement, he has been a major force for good in the Fort Hood community.He was serving as the AUSA Central Texas – Fort Hood Chapter president when the deadly Nov. 5, 2009, shooting occurred at Fort Hood.Under his leadership the chapter provided much needed assistance to the fallen and wounded soldiers, families and civilians involved in the shooting."Having been a soldier for most of my adult life, I personally wanted to devote my life to serving soldiers and their families, who I think are our nation’s most valuable people." Ron said, adding that support is a passion for him.Ron is currently the Central Texas State President of the Association of the U.S. Army.When served as the chapter president from July 2008 to July 2010, the chapter was voted the largest and best chapter in the world for two consecutive years.He is a graduate of Leadership Killeen Class 2001, a member of the Killeen Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, and Killeen–Heights Rotary Club Advisory Council.In 2009 he was selected as the Distinguished Retiree of the Year for III Corps and the Fort Hood Sergeant Audie Murphy Retiree of the Year for III Corps and Fort Hood.Ron will receive his award during the 2012 AUSA Annual Meeting’s opening ceremony Monday, Oct. 22.The Bainbridge Medal will be presented by the sergeant major of the Army, Raymond Chandler, with grateful recognition of Ron’s remarkable contributions to the Army Noncommissioned Officer Corps and the Fort Hood community.If you want to know what "Right looks like" – take a close look at Ron Taylor.Well done my friend.Still Serving!
