Made a Difference awards presented for community service

The Association of the U.S. Army’s Fairfax-Lee Chapter saluted this year’s recipients of the George Mason University (GMU) Made a Difference awards.

Brig. Gen. Robert Harter, U.S. Army Reserve and Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) Clifford Bauman, Army National Guard, were recognized for dedicated and distinguished service to their communities, the Army and the nation over a sustained period of time.

Harter is the commanding general of the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, and Bauman currently serves as a logistics technician, Army National Guard Aviation Logistics Branch, Aviation and Safety Division.

Each awardee received a Made a Difference plaque presented by Brad Edwards, assistant vice president and director of GMU athletics, on behalf of all the students and faculty of the university.

Also present at the ceremony were Ken Britt, president of the Fairfax-Lee Chapter, John Hodges, past chapter president, and Lt. Col. Dudley Capps, C, Systems and Readiness Branch Army National Guard Aviation and Safety Division.

Lt. Col. Mark Vetter accepted the award on behalf of Harter who was not able to attend the ceremony.
