9 scholarships will be awarded at AUSA-ROTC Luncheon
Nine scholarships to deserving Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadets will be presented at the Association of the United States Army’s 2012 Annual Meeting and Exposition during the ROTC luncheon for cadets, cadre personnel and invited guests.The luncheon, hosted by Maj. Gen. Robert L. Nabors, USA, Ret., a member of the Association’s Council of Trustees, will take place at 12:30 p.m., Oct. 22, at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel, 999 9th Street, NW, one block from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center where the three-day AUSA professional development forum will be held.AUSA’s national headquarters, the luncheon’s host, will present a $4,000 scholarship.The Maude Foundation, founded to preserve the legacy of Lt. Gen. Timothy J. Maude, who was serving as the Army’s deputy chief of staff for personnel, G-1, and was the highest ranking officer killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when American Airlines Flight 77 flew into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m., will present two $5,000 scholarships to cadets who entered ROTC through the Green to Gold program.GEICO will present a $1,500 scholarship.United Services Automobile Association (USAA) will present a $1,500 scholarship.Raytheon Company will present a $1,500 scholarship.Lockheed Martin Corporation will present three $1,000 scholarships.Awards will also be presented at the luncheon to the AUSA-ROTC Companies that have distinguished themselves during the past year.The award winning companies are the Bison Company, Howard University, Washington, D.C., and the Fighting Saints Battalion from St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn.
