Providing some information below on behalf of Dr. Don Petersen (Professor in Practice, Director of Engineering Innovation and Design, College of Engineering, University of Texas at San Antonio), who is involved in a collaborative effort with QL+ (Quality of Life +).

Through this STEM-focused (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) collaborative effort, QL+ works with engineering students to build adaptive equipment for veterans and first responders, with the goal to improve the quality of life through innovative technology solutions.

QL+ typically works around a traditional academic year (fall to spring) through senior capstone classes, however, there are opportunities to start and finish projects outside of this timeline.

How can the community participate or assist?

1.  Identify veterans or first responders who have a concept or need for a piece of adaptive equipment.  Injuries and limitations DO NOT have to be combat-related.

2.  Share this information through your own distribution lists.
