The SMAPP allows promotable specialists and corporals the opportunity to move to a new career field and get promoted early. Soldiers will be promoted on the first day of the month following completion of training into the new skill. Only soldiers in overstrength skills or in a MOS with a promotion cutoff score above 550 are eligible to apply.
