Defense Logistics for the 21st Century
By: Bill Tuttle USA Ret.
Reviewed By: Roger Cirillo
Logistics” is a Greek word, and for too many in command positions, the subtleties of its requirements – if they had to be explained – might have been answered by the commander: “It’s all Greek to me.”
That excuse is no longer true. Gen. Bill Tuttle, USA, Ret., has demystified the art and science of logistics in his new book “Defense Logistics for the 21st Century” published by the Naval Institute Press in cooperation with the Association of the United States Army.
With a transforming force already committed to expeditionary missions, the skills needed to plan and execute movement and sustainment of large forces has never been greater.
Tuttle’s text is concise, up-to-date and covers both an overview and specifics of how the logistics system works. He also outlines the principles for testing the effectiveness of operations, as well as identifying recurring shortfalls in logistics and remedies to prevent their occurrence.
This book is sure to become the standard text in the field for many years to come and merits a place on the bookshelf of any serious defense professional.
