Army Ten-Miler T-shirt Design Contest Opens May 6

First Place is $1,000 and Design on all Runner/Volunteer Shirts

Army Ten-Miler officials have announced the dates for its annual Official Race T-shirt Design Contest. Submissions for the contest will be accepted from May 6 to June 6, 2008.

The first-place winner will receive $1,000, and the winning design will be printed on over 26,000 runner and volunteer T-shirts. The second- and third-place designs will win $500 and $250, respectively.

The top five entries, selected by a Blue Ribbon Panel, will be posted on the Army Ten-Miler Web site, www.armytenmiler.com.

Registered runners only will be eligible to vote for the top design from June 17 to 24. Last year, over 6,840 runners voted for the winning designs.

Winners will be determined by the greatest number of online votes and will be announced on the Ten-Miler Web site June 26.

The Army Ten-Miler Official Race T-shirt Design Contest is open to U.S. residents, ages 18 or older. Designs must be original artwork and reflect the spirit of sport and the Army. For more information and technical specifications on the contest, visit www.armytenmiler.com.

Army Ten-Miler – Sold out in 21 Days
The Army Ten-Miler is America’s largest 10-mile running event. The race will take place on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Pentagon the day before the opening of the Association of the United States Army’s Annual Meeting and Exposition at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Race weekend activities include the GEICO Pasta Dinner (sold out), a two-day race EXPO, fitness clinics, youth runs, the 94.7 The Globe post race party and HOOAH tents from Army installations around the world.

The race is produced by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington with proceeds benefiting Army morale, welfare and recreation, a comprehensive network of support and leisure services designed to enhance the lives of soldiers and their families.

The mission of the Army Ten-Miler is for the Military District of Washington to safely conduct the Army’s annual 10-mile race to promote the Army, build esprit-de-corps, support fitness goals and enhance community relations.

The race’s co-lead sponsors are AUSA and KBR.
