With the deadlock continuing over the passage of the emergency defense spending bill, Army leaders are again making their contingency plans when the money runs out in February. The potentially devastating impact of no new emergency war funds has already made the headlines and evening news programs. The impacts, if they occur, are evident from foxhole to family programs. This should not be allowed to happen.
Our Army is fully engaged and is already stretched and strained from the ongoing war. We certainly do not need to introduce any further tension by having a delay in emergency supplemental funding. The timely provision of these dollars is critical to the day-to-day operations of our Army. Army commanders should not have to tighten their belts to get by.
The Association of the United States Army needs your support in communicating this message of timely and adequate funding to our elected leaders. Visit the AUSA website, www.ausa.org., click on Contact Congress, enter your zip code and then click on the AUSA-proposed letter titled, “Pass the FY 2008 Emergency Supplemental Bill Now!!” Your voice does make a difference.
