AUSA Honors First Journalist with Highest Award (10/07/2005)
Tom Brokaw, former news anchor and editor for the NBC Nightly News and author of “The Greatest Generation,” was presented the 2005 George Catlett Marshall Medal Oct. 5 at the closing event of AUSA’s 51st Annual Meeting and Exposition, the George Catlett Marshall Memorial Dinner.

Generals Discuss Battle Command Improvements at AUSA Annual Meeting. (10/07/2005)
Advancements in the battlefield technology and what those changes mean for commanders at all levels were at the heart of a panel discussion Oct. 4 at the Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting. Lt. Gen. Steven Boutelle, the Army’s chief information officer/G6, led the panel entitled, “Improved Capabilities for Battle Command.”

The largest 10-mile race in the United States became the longest Oct. 2 when a suspicious package on the 14th Street Bridge converted an officially sanctioned event to a “fun run.”

Praising American soldiers’ role in the struggle against transnational terrorism, Vice President Dick Cheney told the Association of the United States Army Wednesday, Oct. 5 that the “power of freedom” will remake the Middle East.

Secretary of the Army Francis J. Harvey opened the Annual Meeting of the Association of the United States Army with a speech that touched on the service and sacrifice of American Soldiers and his thoughts on how the Army is transforming to meet the threats of the 21st century.

“There's no question there is still a stigma,” said Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley in reference to post-traumatic stress disorder in the Army, speaking at the third Family Forum of the 2005 AUSA Annual Meeting in Washington.
