Bill Proposed to Improve Health Care for Female Veterans
05/01/2008

Legislation known as the “Women Veterans Health Improvement Act of 2008” (S.2799) was introduced to the Senate today by Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) along with a group of 9 bi-partisan co-sponsors. The bill calls for improved care for women veterans at the Department of Veteran Affairs. The bill seeks to prepare the VA for a doubling of women veterans in the next five years according to VA officials. The legislation will enable the VA to authorize improvements in specific programs, such as Military Sexual Trauma (MST), allow research in areas of need and increase the number women veteran staff positions at the VA.
