Humana Military Healthcare Services Assists Guard and Reserve Members in Understanding Health Benefits
11/13/2007

Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS) recently created a dedicated service unit specifically for National Guard and Reserve members and their families in the South Region. The demands on the National Guard and Reserves are at an all time high as all units are playing a key role in the defense of our country. Through education, training, website enhancements and customer service; HMHS is providing guidance to Servicemembers when they need it most.

One attribute of the dedicated service unit is a new toll-free number for our National Guard and Reserve beneficiaries. This telephone number, 1-877-298-3408, provides direct access for any member of the Guard and Reserve and their families to use when they have questions about their medical benefits. The dedicated service unit has been specially trained on the unique aspects and status types that Guard and Reserve members may experience. Beneficiaries with questions and concerns relating to TRICARE Reserve Select and enrollment into the program may call the new line for assistance.

“We are pleased to offer this new resource for the Guardsmen and Reservists,” said Dave Baker, president & CEO of HMHS. “These service men and women have unique circumstances that can require special attention, the toll-free number is just one of the many ways we will are able to assist them.”

In order to maintain our quality level of customer service to these beneficiaries, HMHS associates receive special training on the unique characteristics of the Guard and Reserve. In addition, HMHS is reaching out to educate the Guard and Reserve population about TRICARE by meeting with Family Program Directors, Senior Leadership and over 4,000 individual units. There is also a special section on the HMHS webpage for the National Guard and Reserve. Servicemembers visiting the website will find many resources and information.
