Guard Expects To Reach 350,000 (06/01/2006)
The director of the Army National Guard sees several factors in play that caused the recent months’ turnaround in recruiting: the public “appreciates what soldiers are doing” and the growing success of the Guard Recruiting Assistant Program with its corollary motto: “Every Soldier is a Recruiter.”

Katrina Changed Guard's Goal (06/01/2006)
When Lt. Col. William Ratliffe heard the order to evacuate in the face of oncoming Hurricane Katrina, he thought it best to head east – toward Mobile, Ala. He had retired from Active Guard Reserve status in the Louisiana Army National Guard on Jan. 31, and in the best interests of his family, evacuation was the route he would follow.
