Army falls short of June recruiting goal
The Army fell short of its active duty recruiting goal for June, but officials noted July 10 that the Army is still ahead of its year-to-date goal and is expected to make its year-end goal. (9/1/2007)

Cody: Army too small now and for future
Even factoring in a planned end-strength increase to 547,000 soldiers in the active force, the Army’s vice chief of staff said he believes the nation has “still too small an Army for the unknowns we have out there.” (9/1/2007)

House committee approves defense spending bill
The House Appropriations Committee approved a $459.6 billion defense spending bill July 25 that calls for a 3.5 percent military pay raise, rejects increases in TRICARE fees and fully funds the Army’s plans to add 7,000 soldiers to the active force in Fiscal Year 2008. (9/1/2007)
