Intelligent Automation Corporation
08/01/2007

Intelligent Automation Corporation (IAC) was founded in 1999 by a seasoned team of engineers, scientists, and managers with a steadfast commitment to produce affordable, easy to use systems that predict and diagnose aircraft mechanical faults. With initial SBIR funding, IAC founders quickly became industry innovators. Their first efforts in aviation diagnostic technology were steeped in a cooperative initiative with the U.S. Army, serving as prime contractor for the Vibration Management Enhancement Program (VMEP). VMEP, one of the U.S. Army’s digitally integrated, on-platform embedded health management capabilities programs is installed on every Army helicopter model.

IAC's technology has become integral to the U.S. Army's CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) initiatives providing maintenance personnel with reliable, directed maintenance instructions (not just data) at the aircraft site. The web-enabled, server based system provides engineers and managers with accurate, real-time aircraft status anywhere in the world using the internet. The company’s IAC 1209 Modern Signal Processing System (MSPU) is the only proven U.S. Army CBM solution whose rigorous, independent testing demonstrated readiness improvements of 5% based on actual operational (combat) usage. As a result of the demonstrated performance of the IAC 1209, the U.S. Army granted Air Worthiness Releases (AWR) or “maintenance credits” for U.S. Army aircraft equipped with the IAC 1209 Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) systems. To date, IAC has fielded over 200 advanced HUMS to the United States Army for the AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Blackhawk, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters.

Since its inception, IAC has grown by over 30% per year through research and development contracts and product development into the world’s leading supplier of helicopter and turbine engine diagnostic products. IAC is the leading supplier of Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) to the world’s largest helicopter operator (U.S. Army) and the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer (Bell Helicopter). Today, IAC’s CBM solutions are used by the U.S. Army as one of the primary information sources for the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) + Initiative.

Making a mission critical difference, while reducing costs and increasing profitability goes hand in hand with the increased confidence IAC’s products and services provide across the industries it serves. The U.S. Army at Fort Detrick, Maryland, as well as cities such as New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. are among the users of IAC’s groundbreaking system to protect public drinking water from contamination and potential terrorism incidents involving the intentional release of chemicals into drinking water supplies. The IAC 1090 Intelligent Aquatic BioMonitoring System (iABS) is an automated, intelligent system that uses fish (bluegills) as biosensors to continuously monitor the water supply and rapidly identify toxic conditions caused by a wide range of chemicals or chemical mixtures.
