CSI is a defense industry, customer centric engineering and manufacturing firm that also works as a development partner for its customers. CSI has recently developed and deployed 40mm anti-personnel munitions, 12 gauge and 40mm warning signal munitions, KA rapid dispersion irritant grenades, and thermite incendiary grenades.

CSI holds numerous long-term U.S. military contracts for tactical munitions and pyrotechnic products such as the VenomTM multiple launch system, various caliber warning signal rounds, rocket components, 40mm impact rounds, the Sting-BallTM grenade system and three separate fuze contracts for a variety of hand grenade products.

CSI’s military customers and development partners include the U.S. Army, USMC, U.S. Navy, USSOCOM, Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate, U.S. Customs & Border Protection, U.S. Department of State, General Dynamics, L3 Communications, Rafael Armament Development Authority, Israeli Military Industries and many other top tier defense industry supporters.

CSI has over 70 years of combined engineering, manufacturing and R&D experience in the munitions and pyrotechnics fields and currently is supplying M201A1 fuses to the US Army. CSI leverages this experience in order to supply its customers with the most reliable and cutting-edge products available in the market today. CSI holds over 25 patents, has numerous patents pending and vigorously defends its intellectual property rights around the world.

In addition to its military products, CSI manufactures and sells its line of less-lethal munitions, tactical munitions and crowd control products to domestic law enforcement agencies under its law enforcement brand name, CTS. CSI also supports its wide base of international military and law enforcement customers with its line of non-lethal munitions. In summary, CSI engineers and manufactures military and law enforcement products in the United States and follows strict proprietary procedures in order to promote product safety and reliability – all with competitive pricing in mind.

The Combined System campus is comprised of 18 buildings on 160 acres in Western Pennsylvania. The workforce of 160 includes a full R&D department, electrical, mechanical and chemical engineers, a full quality assurance department, in house machining department, and in process quality department, and is fully ISO 9001:2000 certified and is DoD 4145.26-M compliant.

Founded in 1981, CSI by Michael Brunn and Jacob Kravel the company has grown to revenues of approximately $25 million, and has a very hands on corporate structure, with both the founders and the principal Chief Operating Officer Richard Edge, intimately involved with the day to day operations of the business.

Combined Systems Inc.’s expertise in the pyrotechnic, kinetic energy and irritant fields of non-lethal and less-lethal munitions and launching systems, has led to the development of innovative solutions to needs of the warfighter. Among the products developed for or being used by the US Army are the pen-flare bang, (a flat trajectory, red, green or white pen flare with a 160 decibel 4 million candela bang at the end of the flare), the 12 gauge extended range super sock kinetic energy round, the 40mm kinetic energy impact round training and reload system, the thermite grenade, (capable of functioning in temperatures from – 40 to +140, and burning through ½ inch steel plate), and very precise pyrotechnic fuzes for the M18 smoke grenade, M84 flash bang grenade, and the M67 fragmentation grenade.
