This is our March 2014 General Membership Meeting.
Clarke is from San Antonio originally and is graduate of Texas A&M. While at A&M he went through the Marine Corps PLATOON LEADERS CLASS during two summers at Quantico. He served his 6-year obligation in the Marine Reserve, finishing up at Pearl Harbor.
He then spent seven years as an Indiana Jones’ adventurer all over the world – but he really did it, not a movie. Among some of his fun adventures was going through the Viet Cong jungles in Southern Laos and Cambodia in 1967, dancing with headhunters, traipsing across the wilds of Afghanistan, and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. As he traveled, he studied languages, religions, history, governments and cultures, so he was somewhat of an Adventurer/Scholar. He is the Author of Romancing the Impossible and a motivational speaker. He now speaks to groups of all kinds and sizes.
Clarke was the Manager of International Customer Relations for Motorola Semiconductor here in Austin before he became the Director of International Protocol for the Governor. He later served as the Director of the Texas State Veterans Homes.
He served 14 years in the State Guard and retired as the G-2 and a Colonel in 2002. During that time he spent 8 years on an FBI Counterterrorism Task Force.
