The U.S. Army Chief of Staff’s Professional Reading List
“This reading list is an important element in the professional development of all leaders in the Army. We can never spend too much time reading and thinking about the Army profession and its interaction with the world at large.

The National Museum of the United States Army
 Plans for the long overdue Army museum are progressing very well. The official groundbreaking ceremony will happen in late summer/early fall of 2013. The opening date is set for the Army’s 240th birthday, June the 14th, 2015.

Top 10 Reasons to Belong to the Association of the United States Army
AUSA is the Army’s professional association and has – for 60 years – provided support for soldiers and family members. And, I believe that every soldier should be a member.

The Bainbridge Award
As a tribute to the Army NCO Corps, the Association of the United States Army established a Noncommissioned Officer Distinguished Service Medal in the year 2000. This award, named for the fifth Sergeant Major of the Army, William G. Bainbridge, USA, Retired and its first recipient is presented to a noncommissioned officer during the opening ceremony at the AUSA Annual Meeting.


The Larry Strickland Memorial Fund and Scholarship
SGM Larry L. Strickland, who served in the Army for 30 years, was sergeant major to the Army’s deputy chief of staff for personnel when he became a victim of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.  Click here to see the Concept Paper
