AUSA is the Army’s professional association and has – for 60 years – provided support for soldiers and family members. And, I believe that every soldier should be a member.

Looking Back on the Year of the NCO
The year 2009 was also the 20 year anniversary of the first "Year of the NCO," but this time there was a difference. Unlike the 1989 "Year of the NCO," there was an external component to the theme.

The Bainbridge Award
As a tribute to the Army NCO Corps, the Association of the United States Army established a Noncommissioned Officer Distinguished Service Medal in the year 2000. This award, named for the fifth Sergeant Major of the Army, William G. Bainbridge, USA, Retired and its first recipient is presented to a noncommissioned officer during the opening ceremony at the AUSA Annual Meeting.


The Larry Strickland Memorial Fund and Scholarship
SGM Larry L. Strickland, who served in the Army for 30 years, was sergeant major to the Army’s deputy chief of staff for personnel when he became a victim of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.  Click here to see the Concept Paper
