 10/1/2009 In a competition involving Army Junior ROTC teams from around the globe, the cadets of Saint Thomas Academy, St. Paul, Minn., took top honors at the 2009 Junior ROTC Academic Bowl. 10/1/2009 “Our mission in the Junior ROTC program is to motivate young people to be better citizens, to be leaders and to be better members of their community,” the commanding general of U.S. Army Cadet command said. 10/1/2009 “I will tell you that you are joining a family, and that’s a family that takes care of each other … and taking care of families is hugely important to an all-volunteer force,” the Army chief of staff said to over 270 ROTC cadets.  10/1/2009 After serving 30 years in the Army, Command Sgt. Maj. Hershel L. Turner knows first-hand the importance of NCOs in training ROTC cadets to become competent and adaptive newly commissioned second lieutenants in America’s Army.  10/1/2009 This year, the 8th ROTC Brigade at Fort Lewis, Wash., assumed the responsibility for the final stages of the planning and execution of the Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge. |
