The recipient of the Association of the United States Army’s highest award – The George Catlett Marshall Medal – delivered the message: “Education is everybody’s business” in an address to more than 3,500 attendees at the Oct. 10 dinner concluding AUSA’s Annual Meeting and Exposition.

One of the biggest challenges that the U.S. Army faces in the 21st century is to both absorb the lessons of Iraq regarding low-intensity conflict while also not losing its edge in conventional warfare as well, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Oct. 10.

The Army is speeding up the rate at which it adds end strength, its top officer announced Oct. 9.

Army leaders promised Oct. 8 that the force is not facing irrecoverable harm despite the stresses caused by the ongoing missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
