Norwich University Hosts ROTC Centennial Symposium

Norwich University will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of ROTC with a two-day ROTC Centennial Symposium on its campus in Northfield, Vermont, April 22–23.Known as the “Birthplace of ROTC,” Norwich University, The Military College of Vermont, was founded by Capt. Alden Partridge in 1819 and is the oldest private military college in the U.S.Titled “Preparing the Next Generation Leaders in a Complex World,” the academic symposium will feature presentations by Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley and Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, deputy commanding general, futures, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), and director, Army Capabilities Integration Center.Also on the program is a panel discussion, “Preparing for the Next Century of ROTC,” with Gen. David G. Perkins, commanding general, TRADOC; Vice Adm. William Crowder, USN Ret., former deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans and strategy, now chairman of the board, Olmsted Foundation and Olmsted scholar; Lt. Gen. Michael Dubie, USAF Ret., former deputy commander, U.S. Northern Command; Maj. Gen. Peggy C. Combs, commanding general, U.S. Army Cadet Command; Rear Adm. Daniel MacDonnell, commander, Naval Information Force Reserve; and Brig. Gen. Paul Guemmer, commander, Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development.
