The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) 2014 Winter Symposium and Exposition will be held in Huntsville, Ala., Feb. 19-21, at the Von Braun Center.The Army Materiel Command, headquartered at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville and commanded by Gen. Dennis Via , is the featured command for this professional development forum.The symposium will focus on the theme: “America’s Army – Sustaining, Training, and Equipping for the Future,” that  will highlight “preparing the Army for an unpredictable global security environment out to the year 2020 and beyond – while continuing the transition from combat operations in the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility,” Association officials said. This transformation must enable our soldiers to successfully operate across a wide spectrum of landpower operations. Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, USA, Ret., AUSA president, said, “The symposium will also explore the concept of strategic landpower and how the Army’s significant capabilities will contribute to the Joint Force 2020, even as the nation’s fiscal challenges drive the Army to be smaller, more agile and, indeed, more capable. “We have designed the symposium not only to deliver the Army’s message, but to display the capabilities of Army organizations and the AUSA members who provide them with commercial products and services. “With nearly 200 exhibits and many informative and thought-provoking speaker sessions, this year’s symposium and exposition will be an outstanding event.” Tech TenA program, developed two years ago by the Association of the United States Army’s Institute of Land Warfare, affords industry members with the opportunity to make 10-minute presentations at AUSA symposia, is a "dynamic and exciting addition to the program,”  industry members said.Lt. Gen. Guy Swan, USA, Ret., AUSA’s vice president for education who oversees the programs and activities of the Institute of Land Warfare, said, "The addition of Tech Tens to our overall symposia program has proven to be a special and informative ingredient that puts the spotlight on industry research and development of equipment, arms and, most importantly, technology that is being developed by our industry partners for our soldiers of today and tomorrow."Adding, "This program fills an important gap in our already successful symposia program, and we will continue asking industry support for more Tech Ten participation in our future events."The Tech Ten presentations at the AUSA Winter Symposium and Exposition include: Dan Saaty, chief technology officer, Decision Lens; Hank Rinehart, director, surveillance programs, Ducommun; and Russell Wood, vice president, Federal Solutions, McLane Advance Technologies.
