AUSA Family Programs held a celebration in honor of the Month of the Military Child by hosting a program at its national headquarters in Arlington, Va. that highlighted the unique problems military children face.
The speakers included Shannon Maxwell, author of Big Boss Brain and Our Daddy is Invincible, and Dorinda Silver Williams, author of Sparrow and other publications.
Maxwell and Williams’presentations focused on the growing need for ways to reach out to military youth who have been impacted or affected by a parent or loved one’s visible and invisible wounds of war, and how their books deal with meeting those needs.
Following the presentations, Patty Baron, AUSA Family Programs director, thanked the attendees for their interest, and expressed the Association’s gratitude to the Wounded Warrior Project for its donation of copies of Big Boss Brain.
