BBC wants to interview service members on deployments

As combat operations in Iraq draw to a close, BBC News is looking to interview members of the armed services - active duty, reserves and National Guard - who wanted to do a combat tour but were not deployed. Civilians often find it difficult to understand why soldiers are eager to go to conflict zones.
We assume they would prefer to stay on safer ground, but that's not always the case. The story will explain why, and attempt to bridge cultural gaps between civilians and the military. If you would like to tell the BBC about your experience, please contact:
