AUSA’s Army Magazine Wins Two Awards

ARMY Magazine, the Association of the United States Army’s monthly publication, earned two silver awards in the 2009 Content Wise Magnum Opus Awards competition, dedicated to corporate and custom publishers.

Honored in the Best Feature category, the November 2008 article “Recollections of Italy, 65 Years Later” by Maj. Eric N. Atkisson is a tale of survival as represented by the on-site reflections of 86-year-old World War II veteran Alfred Dietrich, who has returned to the scene of combat for the sixth time.

The January 2008 installment of the popular “CompanyCommand” column, “Leading Our Soldiers after Losing One of Their Own,” took silver in the Best Column category.

A culling of the many exchanges that take place each month on the Army’s CompanyCommand Web site for captains and lieutenants, the ARMY Magazine’s “CompanyCommand,” compiled by Lt. Col. Peter Kilner, educates readers in the challenges—and resultant solutions—company commanders and platoon leaders face today, both on the field of battle and in garrison.
