For example, AECOM is the Army Field Support Command’s principal contractor for logistics in Afghanistan, with nearly 3,000 personnel deployed across 35 locations. Under the Army Prepositioned Stocks (APS-5) Support task order for the U.S. Army’s Field & Installation Readiness Support Team (FIRST) IDIQ contract, AECOM, as the managing partner of a joint venture, provides vehicle maintenance, add-on armor support, retrograde, logistics, security, property management, and environmental services throughout Afghanistan. The company also provides transportation, utilities, entry/exit security, physical security, training, and morale, welfare and recreation services.

Under the Worldwide Environmental Remediation Services (WERS) contract, AECOM is managing a task order from the Army Corps of Engineers to provide environmental management support services to military operations in Afghanistan. On this project, AECOM provides environmental assistance and environmental engineering and compliance support for the inspection and assessment of storage, transportation, and disposal systems used by the DoD’s regional commands within Afghanistan.

Previously, as the managing partner of a joint venture, AECOM was responsible for providing diverse support and security services across 12 locations covering almost 565,168 acres in the state of Kuwait. On the Combat Support Services Contract–Kuwait (CSSC-K) – the largest base operations support contract in the U.S. Army – the company was responsible for more than 8.2 million square feet of facilities that ranged from tents to network operations centers. Program requirements included logistics and transportation; facilities maintenance; operation and maintenance of combat systems; fuel services; self-service supply center and central issue facility; motor pool services; environmental management; morale, welfare, and recreation; lodging assignment; communications and information technology; receipt and distribution of theater mail; force protection; fire and emergency services; and deployment operations.

At home, AECOM has supported the U.S. Army at Fort Polk and the Joint Readiness Training Center for 6 years in the areas of public works, building operations and maintenance, logistics, information management, personnel processing, and community affairs. The company provided support across a 198,000-acre site, including operating utility systems; maintaining roads; providing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roof repair, and carpentry work on buildings; running IT systems; and maintaining more than 2,300 wheeled tactical vehicles and more than 400 pieces of engineering equipment. This contract supported the JRTC power projection platform, playing a crucial role in ensuring units were properly trained and deployed around the world. Supporting JRTC training activities required meeting tight schedules to support 8 to 10 training rotations each year involving over 37,000 military personnel.
