The Sergeant Major of the Army William G. Bainbridge Medal for exceptional service to the Noncommissioned Officer Corps was awarded to Command Sergeant Major Mark C. Avery, United States Army, Retired.
During his 29 years of service, Command Sergeant Major Avery was known throughout the Army for his commitment to serving his Soldiers, their families and the NCO Corps with distinction and dedication. Working in a wide variety of key assignments, he left his mark as an outstanding leader, trainer, mentor, innovator and artilleryman.
Even in retirement, his personal commitment to the Army, the NCO Corps, our Soldiers and their families remains strong and unwavering, as demonstrated by his continued exemplary service to the military community in El Paso.
In 2007, he was selected to serve on the Association’s National Resolutions Committee, where his expertise has made a significant contribution to the development of AUSA’s platform on future weapon systems, helping to ensure that our warriors are the best armed and equipped Soldiers in the world.
In grateful recognition of his dedication to duty and his many contributions to America’s Army, the Association of the United States Army proudly presented the Sergeant Major of the Army William G. Bainbridge Medal to Command Sergeant Major Mark C. Avery on the sixth day of October, two thousand eight.
