The Association of the United States Army’s 2008 Department of the Army Civilian Award was presented to Allen Tyree, Environmental and Safety Engineer, Materiel Test Directorate, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, for his exemplary service to the U.S. Army and his significant contributions to AUSA and the local community.
As a Department of the Army civilian employee, Mr. Tyree is responsible for environmental and safety compliance; conduct of safety training; and testing of a multitude of weapon systems. In this role, he successfully manages the tremendous task of ensuring that weapons testing falls within the all-important regulations that protect and keep civilians, contractors and warfighters safe during testing exercises.
A member of AUSA’s White Sands Missile Range Chapter, Mr. Tyree has provided exceptional support as the treasurer and vice president for membership. In these roles he increased visibility; growth; and support to Soldiers, families and local events. He has dedicated hundreds of hours of volunteer work through AUSA and his involvement in other organizations.
Dedicated to making a difference in the civilian community, Mr. Tyree has made a mark through myriad volunteer projects, including raising funds for immunizations and educational supplies for low-income families and for scholarships for high school students entering college.
