FY10 National Defense Authorization Act

Letter sent to:

U.S. Representative Skelton

                                                                                              June 15, 2009

On behalf of the more than 105,000 members of the Association of the United States Army, I write to urge the committee to support an amendment to the FY10 National Defense Authorization Act that would authorize utilization of budget reserve funds for several key initiatives.

These initiatives include financing the elimination of concurrent receipt restrictions for disabled longevity military retirees and chapter 61 military retirees; the elimination of the SBP/DIC offset for military survivors; and improvements to healthcare coverage for Reserve Component personnel.

Utilization of the reserve funds for these worthy purposes would send a positive signal to military personnel, their families and military retirees that their service and sacrifice are valued by our nation.
