Heavy rain grounded the planes Saturday at
the "'43 to '03 Airpower
at the Grove Air Show." Then on Sunday, the skies
cleared up in time for the 10 AM start with sprinkles that came and
went here and there. About 80,000 came to see the fabulous
show where the pilots gave the crowd a little more than planned -- and a little surprise too. A steath fighter happened to be passing through the region during the afternoon and its pilots agreed to do a flyby during the show at 4:10 p.m. What the crowd saw earlier was a show of Willow Grove’s past as well as its present. It included yesterday's F-86 Sabre, P-51 Mustangand F-4U Corsair as well as today's Navy FA-18 Hornet, Marine Corps AV-8B
Harrier and an Air Force F-16 Falcon. One of the most spectacular acts
was the parachuters with their bright, yellow
parachutes marked with ARMY at the top. It was an unforgettable day.
