September 2009 - A request for soldier assistance came to us from the Army National Guard Family Assistance office. A situation arose where a soldier was put on orders two weeks to prepare (do an SRP) for deployment at a later date; when he came off those two weeks' orders, his employer fired him. The Thunderbird Chapter awarded funds to assist the soldier and family with car payment, insurance and utilities for his home. Amount: $2040.June 2009

This money was generated by a previous golf tournament and support from a local radio station.
June 2009 - The Sunshine Chapter's "Operation Holiday Cheer" Committee and volunteers packed 60 more boxes for the deployed 143rd ESC (USAR) troops to send to Afghanistan. 9 people, 2 hours. The chapter collected donations for the boxes or purchased additional items to fill gaps in needs.
