Sunshine Chapter (Orlando, FL)

October 2009 - The Sunshine Chapter supported the 3-347th Regiment unit Military Ball on October 3, 2009 with a $1,000 contribution to celebrate the Soldiers and spouses and to give the mobilized and reserve Soldiers an opportunity to share their army lives with their spouses. The Soldiers or the 3-347 are often deployed and the unit focused the event on providing the opportunity demonstrate their pride for the US Army and recognize the Army family.

Sunshine Chapter coordinated participation of SPC Marcus Griffin in the coin toss at the recent United Football League's game between the Florida Tuskers and the California Redwoods.  Additionally, 60 wounded warriors were provided tickets to the event for free.

June 2009:  LTC Connors and Karen Connors met with Wounded Warrior Patrick Wickens to discuss his current medical situation, his goals, and how AUSA can support him and his fiancée.  SGT Wickens is a single leg amputee (high above the knee).  He was severely injured during an RPG attack while on gate guard duty in
Karbala, Iraq, in May 2004.  The Sunshine Chapter will provide Patrick with a membership, help him with his job search, and get him more involved in the defense industry.
