Brooks promoted to general, takes command of U.S. Army Pacific

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond T. Odierno presided over the U.S. Army Pacific change-of-command "Flying V" ceremony from Lt. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski to Gen. Vincent K. Brooks on Palm Circle, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

Prior to the meeting, several of the focus group participants reached out to their spouse networks and asked about their knowledge of AUSA. Many spouses they connected with –of all ranks and in all components – had a number of misconceptions about the Association.

Hagel to Congress – Sequestration threatens readiness, soldier compensation

A letter from Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to the Senate Armed Services Committee leadership outlined some of the current effects sequestration is having on the department as well as summarized the department’s initial contingency plan for fiscal 2014 if sequestration continues and the department is hit with a $52 billion budget cut.


Lawrence: Army network modernization will not stagnate

Even as forces draw down in Afghanistan and budgets are reduced, modernization of the Army network will not stagnate, the service’s chief information officer said.
