AUSA Sustainment Symposium Looks to Future Army Operations

          The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and its Institute of Land Warfare (ILW) will present a professional development forum titled “Army Logistics:  Sustaining the Decisive Force --2020” May 8 – 10 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, Richmond, Va.

          The symposium will have presentations and panel discussions with speakers from the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, the defense industry and the fields of science and technology.

          Featured speakers will include: Gen. Lloyd J. Austin, Army vice chief of staff; Hon. Nelson M. Ford, president and chief executive officer, LMI; Lt. Gen. Raymond V. Mason, Army deputy chief of staff, G-4; Lt. Gen. William T. Grisoli, director, Office of Business Transformation, Office of the Secretary of the Army; and Lt. Gen. Kathleen M. Gainey, deputy commander, U.S. Transportation Command.

          Senior executives from the defense industry involved in logistics, to include, LMI, FLUOR, The Boeing Company and Caterpillar, Inc., will also address the attendees.   

          The symposium will also highlight an exposition featuring the latest in technological advancements.

          The two-day forum will provide an overview of the Army’s role in joint operations; end-to-end logistical processes; current technologies that can be integrated into today’s logistics systems; future technologies and command and control systems.

          The agenda will also address the planning and execution of joint rapid deployment and distribution; and joint interdependence that is critical to improved joint force effectiveness.

           A key objective of the symposium is to provide a forum that facilitates open discussion among attendees, speakers and panelists on sustainment as the Army moves forward to ensure that the warfighter remains supported on today’s and tomorrow’s battlefield.
