The 2008 Major General Anthony J. Drexel Biddle Medal was awarded to Colonel Michael T. Plummer, United States Army Retired, for his outstanding contributions to the Association of the United States Army.
Colonel Plummer, who served as brigade commander, chief of staff and assistant division commander for support, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, has served AUSA and the Association’s Northern New York–Fort Drum Chapter with enthusiasm, creativity and compassion.
Colonel Plummer created the Adopt-A-Platoon Program to support Soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division deployed to Haiti. Since then he has worked tirelessly to ensure that every deploying unit of the division is linked with a local sponsoring organization. Currently, he works with the AUSA Headquarters to assist chapters and communities across the nation and the world in starting similar initiatives, expanding his vision to let Soldiers know they are appreciated and supported by their compatriots.
Additionally, Colonel Plummer has successfully planned and executed projects to bring the experiences of 10th Mountain Division veterans to new warriors through initiatives such as a Heroes Walk. As a member of the AUSA Resolutions Committee, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern New York Fort Drum Chapter of AUSA, he provides leadership and guidance related to military-civilian relations.
In recognition of his dedicated and dynamic support to AUSA and its overriding goal to support our Soldiers and their families, the Association of the United States Army proudly presented the Major General Anthony J. Drexel Biddle Medal to Colonel Michael T. Plummer on the sixth day of October, two thousand eight.
