Support the Troops 

The Department of Defense has asked the public not to overload the military mail system with bulk mailing of cards and gifts. Below are some alternative suggestions for showing your support.

American Red Cross Donations (pdf 644K)
Brave men and women injured while serving in Iraq are returning home and being hospitalized in Walter Reed Army Medical Center before being transported to a hospital at their assigned Army post. Injured, away from home, and separated from their Army units, their needs are many. You can make a difference by donating items to the American Red Cross.
  • Army Emergency Relief
    Non-profit organization providing emergency financial assistance to Army soldiers and family members.

  • Army Gift Program
    An online resource to answer the question: “How can I help?” The Army Gift Program accepts gifts offered to assist Wounded Soldiers, Wounded Civilian Employees and their Families.

  • Army Wounded Warrior Program
    The Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) provides support and information to injured Soldiers. The AW2 information line is 1-800-237-1336.

  • Air Force Aid Society
    Relieves financial distress of Air Force members and their families.

  • America Supports You - Our Military Men and Women
    DoD site designed to showcase America's support for the men and women of the armed forces and the many ways the country is expressing that support.

  • Coast Guard Mutual Assistance
    Provides financial assistance to all members of the Coast Guard "family."

  • Commissary Gift Certificates
    Donate gift certificates through non-profit organizations for need-based distribution.

  • Defend America - Support the Troops
    Lists organizations that are sponsoring programs for overseas troops.

  • Fisher House
    Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers, to enable family members to be close to a loved one during hospitalization.

  • Gifts From the Homefront
    Send an AAFES gift certificate to a loved one, family member or friend associated with the military.

  • Help Our Troops Call Home
    Send Military Exchange Prepaid Phone cards to our troops.

  • Helping Our Heroes Foundation
    Provides funding, services, and volunteers to augment the support of our military injured in either Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) or Operation Iraqi Freedom, and runs parallel to the initiatives identified in the Disabled Soldiers Support System (DS3).

  • Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
    The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund provides unrestricted grants to the families of military personnel who have given their lives in the current operations in defense of our country.

  • Navy-Marine Corps Society
    Administers funds that provide financial assistance to Navy and Marine Corps personnel and their families.

  • Operation Dear Abby
    Send an online greeting to our men and women in the military.

  • Operation Uplink
    Donate phone cards to servicemembers so that they may keep in touch with loved ones at home.

  • Operation USO Care Packages
    Delivers needed items and personal prayers to deployed servicemembers overseas.

  • Operation Yellow Ribbon
    To raise the level of consciousness of the American people for what our servicemen and women do for us, to remind them of their previous sacrifices for us, and to foster a long-lasting respect for all that they do.

  • Soldiers Memorial Fund
    Provides gifts and monetary donations to solders and family members.

  • United Service Organizations (USO)
    A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization providing support to soldiers.

    Sign your thanks to the U.S. military.

  • Wounded Warriors
    Donations for wounded or injured soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan and evacuated to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany.
